Part of my Knitting with Light: Woven Studies series, these four original artworks made in 2025 continue my exploration of knitting, cyanotype and experimental making. Created from fragments of original cyanotype test prints woven into machine knitted cotton, each piece represents an ongoing study of texture, light and material.
Rather than discarding these early cyanotype experiments, I carefully cut them into strips and wove them through open, laddered knitted structures, allowing the prints to become part of the fabric itself.
The cyanotype prints carry traces of the experimentation that led to my Knitting with Light print collections, giving them a second life within these one-of-a-kind woven compositions. Suspended from naturally fallen branches collected from my local park and finished with a simple latch hooked cotton hanging cord, each artwork is unique.
Because every cyanotype strip is unique and each piece is woven by hand, no artwork can ever be recreated exactly. While I may continue to explore this way of working, every piece will always be entirely original.
