This cyanotype print was made in my garden, while my children played around me. Using knitted lace as the “negative,” sunlight revealed its delicate patterns in deep indigo blue. Each print becomes a kind of photograph of texture — a way of knitting with light itself. The details in this piece are exquisite, I picked out the cotton, mohair and even the fishing wire perfectly.
These works have been a transformative practice for me in early motherhood: created in small pockets of time, surrounded by play and sunlight.
